Training with your mates, working hard together and aiming for the same thing- to beat the other side but with the best part really just being with your mates and working as a team. In an age where we seem to be becoming more and more isolated from each other and within ourselves, sport helps remind us of the deep satisfaction which comes when we are all working together.
Team sport provides a vehicle for hope , something for us to still lose yourself in, barracking for our side together, still sure that the elusive try, wicket or goal isn’t too far away. To still have hope is crucial for our future- it affords the possibility that as a species we are getting somewhere and a belief that we can do it. So having hope shouldn’t be understated as it surely has to show that at least we all know that we need to keep trying to help save the world. It means we are still out there batting, still working on the deeper issues in life but knowing that it is fine to take a breather and just enjoy watching or playing sport with your mates all the while watching a wonderful metaphor for life.

I Just Don’t Get It
